Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about MemoirMovies
Delivery
You receive a finished narrated, scored 4K film. Archive Editions also preserve the complete section structure, and finished section videos remain available in the private project workspace.
General
Credits are prepaid tokens (1 credit = $0.10) used for extras beyond your base film purchase: image re-rolls after the one included per scene, and narrator cutaway clips. Your base film purchase already includes a complete 4K film and a re-roll credit for every scene, so most authors never need to buy more. Packs start at $10 for 100 credits.
Yes. In MemoirMaker, choose “Make it a film” beside the exact memoir. A private one-time confirmation securely imports every section, signs you in without another account setup, and starts three complimentary preview frames automatically.
Yes. Every scene in the workspace has a Record button. Speak the narration directly from your browser, and your recording replaces the AI-narrated audio for that scene. You can mix your own recorded takes with AI-narrated scenes freely within the same film.
Yes. In the workspace, you can create music spans that cover any range of scenes — describe the mood or style you want, and original music is generated to fit that section. Music plays under narration in the final assembly and is included with your film purchase.
Pin any finished scene image as the style anchor in the workspace. Once a scene is pinned, every new image you generate references that scene's look — colour palette, lighting, and brushwork — so the painted style stays uniform from the first chapter to the last. You can unpin or swap the anchor at any time.
Yes. Once a scene has an image, choose the edit option and describe the specific change you want — add the dog, darker lighting, move to daytime, longer hair — and the AI applies only that change to the existing image. This costs one re-roll credit and preserves the parts you already like.
No. If you have one meaningful story rather than a completed book, the $99 Signature Story guides you through focused questions and automatically creates three private preview frames. Continue only if you want the complete five-minute film.
Start with the free Project Fit Check at memoirmovies.com/consultation. We will point you to the $99 guided Signature Story, the complete-manuscript Archive Edition, or done-for-you concierge production.
The five-minute Signature Story is $99 as a one-time purchase with no subscription. Your guided answers produce three private preview frames free; payment is required only if you continue to the complete film with narration, music, included image re-rolls, and final 4K delivery.
Yes. You can add a styled title card to any section — choose from dozens of era-appropriate designs, from Art Deco to Handwritten Journal to Cinematic Blockbuster. Title cards render as a separate opening scene before the section begins.
Yes. Click "Suggest" next to any scene's image direction in the workspace and the AI director will draft a concrete shot description based on your narration text, the scene's year, your cast library, and how earlier scenes in the section were framed. You can use the suggestion as-is or adjust it before generating.
Yes. From your film's workspace, add the recipient's name and email plus an optional private note, and we email them a private watch-and-download link — no account required on their end. Nothing is sent until you choose to send it, and sending again replaces the previous link.
Getting started
You can upload a Word document (.docx), an EPUB (.epub), a text-based PDF (.pdf), or a plain text file (.txt). We read the words and give you an exact price instantly.
For an Archive Edition, your manuscript remains the source narration; MemoirMovies adds imagery, voice, and music without inventing events. For a Signature Story, your guided answers become a fact-bounded first-person script that you can review. The original material remains private and unchanged.
Yes. Signature Story, direct Archive uploads, and MemoirMaker Archive imports automatically create exactly three private hand-painted preview frames before payment. No card is required for the preview; continue only if you like the direction.
An EPUB with a working table of contents gives the film a clean section structure. Each section can be processed, reviewed, rendered, and included or excluded from the final film independently. Word documents, PDFs, and text files are accepted, but a well-structured EPUB usually produces the smoothest workflow.
How it works
When a person first appears, we create a reference portrait and reuse it in every later scene, so they look the same throughout — and we age them correctly as your story moves through the years.
Yes. Every scene is editable — you can re-roll the image completely, describe just one change to apply to the existing image, adjust the image direction, or regenerate the narration. Your base film purchase already includes one re-roll credit per scene, so most authors never need to buy more.
Production starts automatically — you do not have to build every section by hand. We turn your manuscript or guided answers into scenes, then generate the images, narration, and music, and assemble the finished film, emailing you when it is ready. Your workspace stays open the whole time if you want to fine-tune a scene, and if a step ever needs a retry, one click resumes right where it left off.
Yes. You can edit narration text, adjust image direction, select people, places, and things for each scene, re-roll images, add title cards, choose music spans, and render sections before assembling the final film.
Narration and video
Yes. You can upload or record a short voice sample, or use an existing compatible cloned voice ID. MemoirMovies creates a narration preview for your approval before using that voice in the film. You must have permission to use any voice sample you provide.
No. If you would rather not record yourself, pick from 8 curated professional narrator voices covering a range of accents and tones. You can preview each voice before choosing, and you can still switch to your own recorded or cloned voice later.
Narrator cutaways are optional interview-style clips where the narrator appears on screen, like a documentary. For each cutaway you can choose the narrator's expression — a warm smile for personal or uplifting moments, or a calm composed look for reflective and serious scenes. Cutaways are billed with prepaid credits because they use a separate video-generation step.
Pricing
A five-minute Signature Story is $99. A complete-manuscript Archive Edition is $99 per 1,000 words with a $99 project minimum. Both are one-time purchases with no subscription and include narration, music, one image re-roll per included Archive scene, and final 4K delivery. Done-for-you concierge films start at $499.
A Signature Story is a focused five-minute film. Archive Editions vary with the manuscript and average roughly one minute per 150 words; we show the estimate and exact price before payment.
Privacy and rights
Yes. Customer manuscripts, uploaded photos, voice samples, generated assets, and finished films are treated as private account content. Public website pages do not expose your project files, and media delivery uses gated asset routes or private storage links.
